American Ceramic Society (ACerS)

ACerS "serves the informational, educational and professional needs of the international ceramics community," and is composed of around 10,000 members, including engineers, researchers, manufacturers, plant personnel, educators, and students.

ASM International

ASM International is an association of materials scientists and engineers.  Among its activities are publishing magazines, journals, and books and sponsoring conferences.

Materials Research Society (MRS)

MRS is an international organization made up of "scientists, engineers, and research managers from industry, government, academia, and research laboratories to share findings in the research and development of new materials of technological importance."  There are several University Chapters intended to foster interaction between students and faculty.

The Minerals, Metals, & Materials Society (TMS)

Included among the 10,000 professional and student members of TMS are metallurgical and materials engineers, scientists, researchers, educators, and administrators.  It supports the development of the profession through publications and conferences, and by participating with ABET in "evaluating materials science and metallurgical engineering programs at universities in the United States seeking accreditation."
