EndNote (Desktop Version): Exporting and Importing from PubMed

Importing from PubMed

EndNote users can use the Send to Citation Manager option in PubMed to export information about individual records or batches of citations from PubMed. 

PubMed Exporting and Importing

1. In PubMed, select the articles whose information you would like to export by filling in the checkboxes. Click the Send To Link 

 

2. Fill in the Citation manger circle and click the Create File button

 

3. Clicking the Create File button will initiate the download of an .nbib file. Save this file on the computer

 

4. Open the EndNote library the information will be added to. Go to the File menu, hover over the Import function and click File.

 

6. In the Import File window, click the choose button

 

7. Locate the file exported from PubMed. Select the file and click open.

 

8. Select PubMed (NLM) as the Import Option. Select the preferred operation for duplicates and click the Import button. 

 

9. EndNote will list the references that were imported and provide a count of the number of references that were added.
