American FactFinder (Census +): Using "Community Facts" (Quick Search)

Start

  1. Open the link for American FactFinder
  2. At the top, you will see a Community Facts search option, which includes a quick search box.
  3. Choose this option when you need quick or "most popular" facts about a state, country, city, town, or zip code. This search is not meant for in-depth or comparison data searches.

How to Search

For example, if I wanted to quickly search for data about the zip code area in which Mervyn H. Sterne Library resides,

I would type in the zip code, 35205, into the Quick Search box under Community Facts which would return the following results. You can then select the different "topics" from the menu on the left to find the demographic data you need.
