If you are searching for a dissertation about a topic, use the database Dissertations & Theses at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Many of these titles are available for download. Theses are not always listed here.
To search by department (i.e. subject), go to the advanced search screen.
From the drop-down box next to the search box, select Department.
You can also search for dissertations or theses in our catalog.
From our home page, select the "Advanced" search. In that search page, use the terms thesis (or dissertation), the topic, and university of alabama at birmingham.
The list below indicates the general Library of Congress call numbers and shelf locations for theses and dissertations in Sterne Library for specific subjects or departments. UAB bound dissertations and theses are located in the circulating collection on the third floor of the Library.
Most will be pre-2012.

You will use the database Dissertations & Theses at the University of Alabama at Birmingham to search for electronic theses and dissertations completed at UAB.
To search by author, go to the advanced search screen.
Once there, scroll down to "Search Options." One of the options is to search by Author.
To locate a UAB thesis or dissertation by a specific author, it's easy to search the library catalog.
From our home page, select the "Advanced" search. In that search page, type the author's name and select "Author/creator" in the pull-down field box.
