Sterne Library owns a few master's theses or doctoral dissertations completed by students at other institutions. Those that are available can be found in the Local Catalog.
The primary tool for identifying most U.S. theses or dissertations, as well as some written at Canadian, British, and other European institutions, is Dissertations and Theses Global (previously, Dissertation Abstracts), both an electronic database and a print index (Ref Z 5055 .U5 A53). It provides abstracts for each indexed dissertation since 1980; abstracts are provided for indexed theses since 1988. Off-campus access to the electronic subscription of Dissertations and Theses Global is restricted to current UAB students, faculty, and staff.
You search Dissertations and Theses Global the same way you search the Dissertations & Theses at the University of Alabama at Birmingham database.
