Scholarly journals contain articles written for academics in a field. They use technical language and are often long. They also may contain charts, graphs, or a bibliography. The images featured below are just some examples of scholarly journals.
Scholarly (academic, peer reviewed) articles don’t have to be read from beginning to end like you would a novel. In fact, they shouldn't be! You need to ensure the validity and credibility of an article before deciding to read it through; this will save yourself a lot of time.
The questions in this worksheet will help you focus your reading in on the important parts of scholarly articles.
