Another, much larger, collection of EISs is maintained by Northwestern University's Transportation Library. Nearly all EISs issued by federal agencies since 1969 are held, usually in draft and final form. Also included are related documents such as environmental assessments, findings of no significant impact, records of decisions, supplementary reports, and maps. You can search the collection using keywords (“my search words”) or phrases (“my exact phrase”) in the document titles, in the subject headings, or anywhere in the record.
Over 33,000 EISs and related documents from the Northwestern collection have been digitized and are available online. You can view the online version of a document by clicking the title (which will redirect you to the website of the HathiTrust, where the documents are archived).
Not all the documents were digitized (for example, those in the Northwestern microfiche collection). In addition, due to physical limitations in the scanning equipment used, oversized materials within volumes, such as maps, foldouts, etc., were not digitized. However, all hard copy titles are available through our interlibrary loan service.
