Systematic Reviews: Citation Management

A comprehensive systematic review search may retrieve several thousand citations, so you'll need a plan to handle all these references. Reference management software allows you to export citations directly from databases, organize those citations, eliminate duplicate records, upload and store PDF documents, and track comments related to inclusion and exclusion criteria.

EndNote

LHL librarians typically deliver their systematic review search results using EndNote.  UAB students and employees (this does not include the UAB Health System) can download the EndNote software for free with a current Blazer ID/password from UAB Information Technology's Software & Subscription Solutions. Please see our EndNote guide for more information.

Other tools for managing citations

Mendeley and Zotero are free, web-based tools for managing references, creating bibliographies and organizing pdfs. Here are our guides to Mendeley and to Zotero.
