Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education

For the time being, the following have both free and paid levels. For introductory and more advanced work, the top two are recommended. You can always see currently supported AI tools here, AI @ UAB

• Microsoft Copilot

  Microsoft Copilot is supported by UAB. It includes the ChatGPT 4 Pro LLM as well as an up-to-date web search for data.

• Research Rabbit

  What is ResearchRabbit? It is an innovative “citation-based literature mapping tool” available online. The scope of such tool is to optimize your time searching for references as you start planning your essay, minor project, or literature review. The included literature mapping tool helps give structure to the literature as well as show recommended resources. Drawing from NIH PubMed and Semantic Scholar, ResearchRabbit does a good job of showing where the references originated and not including "junk" in its results.

• Elicit: The AI Research Assistant

  Elicit uses language models to help you automate research workflows, like parts of literature review. Elicit can find relevant papers without perfect keyword match, summarize takeaways from the paper specific to your question, and extract key information from the papers. While answering questions with research is the main focus of Elicit, there are also other research tasks that help with brainstorming, summarization, and text classification.

• Google's Gemini

  Google Gemini is a family of powerful AI models, similar to OpenAI's GPT-4, launched in December 2023. It comes in three versions (Nano, Pro, and Ultra) and can understand and work with different formats like text, images, code, and audio, making it a versatile tool for tasks like writing, planning, and learning.

• Poe - Fast, Helpful AI Chat

  Poe lets you ask questions, get instant answers, and have back-and-forth conversations with AI. Gives access to GPT-4, gpt-3.5-turbo, Claude from Anthropic, and more.

• QuillBot
