Video: Direct Export from PubMed

This 1-minute tutorial demonstrates how to export citations from PubMed.

Click the play button in the video image below. Then, click in the bottom right corner to view in full screen.

Export from PubMed

  1. From a PubMed list of results, check the boxes next to the citations you wish to save to your EndNote library
  2. Click the Send to link in the top right
  3. Click the circle next to Citation manager*
  4. Click Create File

*Note: You can also move citations to PubMed’s Clipboard and then follow these steps from the Clipboard. The Clipboard allows you to set aside citations from several different searches before exporting them to PubMed.

The next screen will vary depending on your browser, but if prompted to open or save the file, choose Open or Open with. If you’re asked what program to use to open the file, select ResearchSoft Direct Export Helper or EndNote X7. Chrome users will need to click the arrow next to the file on the bottom of the browser window and select Open.
