Subject encyclopedias are good places to start for an introduction to your topic. They can also help focus your topic.
To find subject encyclopedias, choose Advanced Search option from the UAB Libraries' homepage.
Switch the Search Scope from Everything to Library Catalog. Then, combine a broad subject term (e.g., sports) and the words encyclopedias and dictionaries as shown in the image below.
