  • articles written for professionals/researchers in a field
  • use technical language
  • contain charts, graphs, and/or notes bibliography,
  • can be reviewed (refereed) by a board of "peers." 
  • can include things like journals, government reports, presentations, and statistical data

  • written for general public
  • use everyday language
  • articles tend to be short
  • published more frequently
