The UAB Libraries are committed to the spirit of open access. They participate in several Read & Publish Agreements with major publishers that completely cover APC charges for UAB authors. In the past, they also offered limited APC funding to UAB authors through an APC funding pilot program. Authors are encouraged to contact the UAB Libraries Office of Scholarly Communication for help with open access publishing.
UAB authors have saved more than $2 million in APC charges through the UAB Libraries' read and publish agreements since 2021. You can find more detailed statistics about these agreements and their usage here.
