CECM 676: Construction Project Risk Management Term Project Format Requirements

CECM 676 Term Project Formatting Requirements

The case study research project must be a typed written narrative using a size 12 text font and can be double spaced. Bullets are allowed for the draft version, but are NOT allowed for the final version, as I am looking for only written narrative paragraphs. Each risk evaluation shall have a minimum of three sources, which can be the original risk event and two (2) additional secondary sources. The secondary sources should support, contradict, complement or add to your original event, or enhance your analysis of the risk. Your final project must also contain two (2) sources from databases provided by the UAB Libraries. Therefore, in summary, you will need a total of four (4) regular sources and the two (2) sources from the UAB Libraries. Sources should be properly cited using the MLA or APA style and you must clearly identify the required virtual library sources. Students must include an actual copy of their risk event articles and internet links to these articles are NOT acceptable.

Students MUST structure their overall project and table of contents using the following format:

  1. Cover page – list the course, your name, school name, and the “attention grabbing” title of your case study.
  2. Detailed Table of contents.
  3. Introduction of your overall two (2) risk events and list your objectives.
  4. First Risk Event Evaluation Title
    1. Summarize the construction risk event.
    2. Analyze and identify the risk(s).
    3. List all stakeholders and tell how they were affected.
    4. Describe how the risk(s) could have been made into a positive opportunity “if you were the construction manager in charge”. (Mitigation Strategies)
    5. Explain the lessons learned.
    6. Cite the sources of your risk event – Three (3) minimum.*
    7. Include a copy of your actual primary risk event article (no links allowed).
  5. Second Risk Event Evaluation Title
    1. Summarize the construction risk event.
    2. Analyze and identify the risk(s).
    3. List all stakeholders and tell how they were affected.
    4. Describe how the risk(s) could have been made into a positive opportunity “if you were the construction manager in charge.” (Mitigation Strategies)
    5. Explain the lessons learned.
    6. Cite the sources of your risk event – Three (3) minimum.*
    7. Include a copy of your actual primary risk event article (no links allowed).
  6. Conclusion of your overall two (2) risk events

* Two of these sources must be from UAB Libraries databases.

Note: There should not be any cost or fee to access these online resources. Contact Dr. McGuire at the UAB Libraries if you encounter this problem.
