Citation managers are software programs that help users collect, organize, format, and share references. Four programs are supported by the UAB Libraries.

EndNote is available for free to UAB students through a site license. The newest version is EndNote 21 which was released in May 2023.

To customize for the UAB Libraries, display the edit menu (Windows) or the EndNote 21 menu (Mac) then select preferences. Make sure all four boxes are checked then enter the information below.

EndNote comes preloaded with the most popular output styles which includes ACS (see also ACS Guide to Scholarly Communication). However, the style for the Journal of Forensic Sciences is not preloaded so it must be downloaded and installed from the EndNote Output Styles Repository.
