EndNote Online (formerly EndNote Web): from PsycINFO

This guide is intended to assist users of EndNote desktop in using the online/web version of the EndNote program.

Importing Citations from PsycINFO

1) Check the box(es) next to each record you want to save and then click on Export/Save in the top right corner of the results list. Then select ProCite, EndNote, or Reference Manager.

2) An Export window will appear. Make sure ProCite, EndNote, or Reference Manager is selected and click Continue.

You may need to allow pop-ups from the ProQuest website. Once you select to allow pop-ups, you may have to do the steps above once more.

3) Select Save (vs. Open). Make sure you know where this file is being saved so you can find it in the next couple of steps. The file will be called ProQuestDocuments followed by the date you exported the citations and will have an "RIS" file extension.

4) Once you've saved the ProQuestDocuments file to your computer, go to your EndNote Online account. Go to the Collect tab and select Import References

6) On the Import References page:

  1. Next to File, click the Browse button and navigate to the file with your saved citations (e.g. ProQuestDocuments-2012-04-24.ris)
  2. Next to Import Option, select RefMan RIS (Note: If you do not see RefMan RIS as an option, click Select Favorites, select RefMan RIS from the complete list of import options, and click Copy to Favoites. You should then see RefMan RIS as an option in the Import Option drop-down menu to the left.)
  3. Next to To, select an EndNote Online group into which you would like these new citations to go. If you don't want them in a group, you can just select Unfiled. If you want to create a new group, select New group.
  4. Click Import

You should then get a confirmation message letting you know the import was successful. You can click the hyperlink to take a look at the newly imported citations.
