The methods described on this page will help you get most of the bibliographic content for books into your EndNote library. However, ALWAYS look over book citations you add to your library using the approaches demonstrated on this page. (This is a good rule of thumb for any newly-added citations.) There are several known issues with adding book citations using online search with these Connection Files:
If the book you wish to add to your EndNote library is not in the Lister Hill Library or Sterne catalogs, the handouts below walk you through the process of looking up and exporting a book citation in other catalog systems.
Remember, if you can't find a book in a catalog, you may just want to manually add the book reference to your EndNote library.
If you find a book in the UAB Libraries catalog that you wish to add to your EndNote library, you can save the appropriate connection file below in your EndNote X7 > Connections folder on your computer. (The location of this folder will vary depending on your operating system.) These files allow you to search the UAB Libraries catalog directly from within EndNote and quickly add book citations to your EndNote library. Once you've saved the connection file, watch the tutorials below to learn how to search the catalogs in EndNote to add book references to your library.
Watch this 5-minute tutorial to learn how to search some databases and catalogs (including the Lister Hill and Sterne Library catalogs) directly from within EndNote. (Note: This feature only works for a very few number of databases and catalogs.)
