There are a number of ways to add citations to an EndNote library.
- Some databases, such as CINAHL and other EBSCOhost databases, provide easy one-click means for moving citations from the database straight into EndNote. (This is called direct export.)
- Other databases require you to save a file and then import that file into EndNote.
- A few databases and library catalogs can be searched from within EndNote. (This is EndNote's Online Search feature.)
- For some items (such as items not found in databases), you will have to manually enter them into your EndNote library.
Regardless of how you get citations into EndNote, you can easily insert them into a Word document and format them in the appropriate bibliographic style with just a few clicks.
